Vartan Kesiz Abnousi
Vartan is a Ph.D. candidate in the department who is also completing a master's degree in applied statistics. He has also completed coursework in computer science and plans to pursue a master’s in that subject as well. Vartan is currently researching the performance, statistical properties, and methodology of non/semi parametric matching estimators, and their application in eliciting the value of environmental amenities with Dr. Klaus Moeltner. He is a member of The Econometric Society and serves as the departmental delegate in the college’s Graduate Student Council. He was awarded a Graduate Fellowship from the Armenian General Benevolent Union for three consecutive years (2014 – 2016).
Vartan’s research interests include econometric methodology, spatial econometrics and automated causal inference through machine learning.
Prior to pursuing graduate work, Vartan worked in the financial industry as a quantitative analyst in portfolio construction process and risk management.
