Alexis Villacis-Aveiga

Ph.D. Candidate

 

Alexis' areas of research include production economics and international development. He has a strong interest in interdisciplinary, applied research with a specific emphasis on crop production in the U.S. and poverty reduction in developing countries.

Before joining AAEC, Alexis earned his master’s in Agricultural Economics at Purdue University and worked for the Department of Agriculture of Ecuador. He also worked as a lecturer at the Universidad Espiritu Santo UEES of Ecuador and as a fellow researcher at the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in Beijing, China. Some of his previous work has involved determining the economic impact of agricultural research programs in El Salvador. He served as president of the AAEC Graduate Student Assembly for the 2018-19 academic year.
