ABOUT GSA
Graduate students are encouraged to participate fully in department professional and social activities.
The department’s GSA is an informal organization designed to serve the needs of graduate students and represent their interests. The association has representation on various departmental committees and helps sponsor the orientation for new students and social activities. Membership is open to all graduate students in Agricultural and Applied Economics.
A larger organization, the Graduate and Professional Student Senate, is a university organization to which graduate students of all departments may send delegates. The GPSS provides a forum for discussion of issues affecting graduate students at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Members of the GPSS serve on university-wide committees to insure adequate graduate student input in university activities.
