The Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics at Virginia Tech is proud to host the inaugural Fall Nexus: Building Bridges from Campus to Beyond, a dynamic networking event designed to strengthen alumni, student, faculty, industry, and external stakeholder connections.

This event will bring together alumni, industry leaders, and external partners to engage with students and faculty through meaningful dialogue, collaborative learning, and the exchange of new ideas on educational programs and emerging industry trends. This event will provide a unique opportunity for making new connections, expanding professional networks, and exploring and creating new opportunities that will prepare students for impactful, future-ready careers.

  • 9:30 am Industry speaker, Caroline Phillips, MPA (talent acquisition manager, Perdue Farms)
  • 10 am Industry speaker, Domencia Jones (talent programs consultant, talent management, Butterball)
  • 10:30 am 'AI in Curriculum' presentation with George Davis, Mike Ellerbrock (professor), and Greg Estep (AAEC advisory council chair and food & agriculture advisor)
  • 11 am Welcome from Le Wang (David M. Kohl Chair and professor) with students Colby Crutchfield (Kohl Center Fellow) and Maryam Rehmatulla (Data Science for the Public Good) project presentations
  • 11:30 am Behavioral Economics group activity with George Davis and student Aiden Durica
  • Noon Lunch and keynote speaker: Robert Jackson, former Hokie football player and Associate Vice President for Principal Gifts, Virginia Tech
  • 1:30 - 3:15 pm Joint Alumni Advisory Board and Young Alumni Council meeting
    All other participants may enjoy free time until the happy hour
